Shamrock Nursery was founded in 1982 by Delray Kumm and grew steadily over the years through a network of satellite locations and loyal wholesale customers. For Katie Wrede, Shamrock has always been more than a business. Katie worked at the nursery for seven seasons during junior high and high school, and it quickly became one of her favorite places on earth.
After spending 20 years as a technical agronomist with various agricultural companies, Katie felt ready for a new chapter in late 2020. She found herself drawn back to Shamrock and curious about what it might look like to carry its legacy forward. After many conversations with Delray and working through the details of purchasing the business, Shamrock Nursery officially transferred ownership to Katie Wrede on September 7, 2021.
Today, Shamrock Nursery is proudly woman-owned, with Katie Wrede as its sole owner. While the title matters to some, what matters most to her is honoring the roots Delray planted, caring deeply for our customers, and continuing to grow a place that has meant so much to her for so long.
